For the rest of the week I grabbed some rest, but I also made a bit of an extension to The Adamant. :)
I've extended the introduction. I also made the mc choosable. This way you can play either Dave or Clarissa.
I have a bit of a dilemma going on because I want to add dom and sub content to both scenarios. However I'm worried that if the game wants to be a dom game and a sub game at the same time, that can end up biting me in the ass. I mean a bit more than biting, because if that happens, the entire thing gets ruined xD
I think it might be more logical if you have a dom playthrough from the eyes of Dave and a sub playthrough from the eyes of Clarissa. One could work very similarly as the 0.0.02 version of The Adamant did (you can find it here: https://mega.nz/file/1TV1CSLC#CXla-CloAzGTiraBiYKULQzvlOdi_t-SlyNy4Fmgg2A), the other could function more as The Zeta Sector, where you play as a hottie and every living thing wants to enslave you.
On the other hand the game could be a bit more open on this subject, and you could be a sub and a dom at the same time, depending on the crewmember. I mean you would hit a state fairly early on... And after that only dom or sub interactions would remain, but technically the notion of having a choice would be there.
But I'm still thinking... I will try not to sit on the subject for too long!
Welp, today I didn't rest much either. xD I started to watch some tutorials in Ren'Py, and sort of just one thing led to the other. Luckily I found the Ren'Py engine very beginner friendly. So much so that I was already able to put together the game's introduction.
For the sake of consistency, I will name it version 0.03, since the previous concept, that was in html, stopped with 0.02.
Welp, we reached my first day of rest time, and I already started working on The Adamant xD It's strange how much how much this frontier started to excite me at a sudden. Somehow it's like every step on the road was leading up to this game.
I have an initial concept how warp travel should work. I think this way it will be a lot better than getting a "you arrived to this planet" message like earlier. The only thing I don't have is some sort of galaxy map. I'm not sure how to get around that. But I'm pretty sure I will find a way xD (Technically the warp is AI, but it's tricky, because you have to give it something to feed on before it starts to give you something usable).
Space combat is going to be something similar. I'm thinking about boarding and getting at least 1 companion with a lot of content through this event chain. It would make this activity worthwhile, not to mention all the loot you could get from destroying ships.
I started to put together more about the story as well. Basically I want to have a spin on what I had previously.
The idea is that the Keith's (members of a rival slavekeeping family) make an ambush on the mc's cruiser. Everything works as planned and the mc can't escape with his ship. But they have this device from an ancient race that could transfer one's mind to a different person. That's how we would get to Dave, who is Clarissa's partner, and the two of them just finished stealing Keith's personal ship, the Shadow Serpent, while the battle was going on.
I think this way I could essentially cut to the chase, and have NSFW content fairly early on, since Dave and Clarissa know each other. And since the mc is a professional slave trainer, while Dave has a submissive relationship with Clarissa, this could make both paths believable.
Also, I think the opening this way will be hilarious, because you are this big slave trainer, who single-handedly broke in countless women. Then you open the cockpit's door to answer the knocks, and "It's time to put back your cage, Muffin!"
Now I will really try to rest during the rest of the week. But I might not because I got excited... We will see XD
Also, if you find the renders to be blurry, you can find them on my Deviantart with high detail:
This week I have to convey a sad decision, but I decided to put the html's on hold for the time being. I will definitely finish them at one point, Nel's Misfortune being the closest, but sadly they didn't pan out, and it feels like I've been grinding at them forever.
I honestly don't know what to say. I feel like I should have given more, but I was not able to. 4 games are just too much for me to handle. None of them really worked to begin with. And as time went on I realized that they are never going to.
With the Adamant, work continues luckily. Next week I aim to have a rest week. After that I will continue to release comic entries, 3 times a week as usual. In case of the Adamant, I will keep posting logs about the progress until we finally get to the launch date.
I don't expect to get to a release for several months. See, this is going to be a bigger undertaking, and I want to make sure that everything works. So much of my ideas needs to be finalized. I need to seek out examples in Ren'Py that I could use for reference. There is a thing with AI enhanced daz renders I want to get into. It might work, it might not. You only really know when you know.
And of course there are things like learning a new engine, creating a good gameplay loop, writing engaging interaction with characters. So yeah, several months might seem like a long time, but it really isn't. There will be image drops and perhaps small playable segments until then. Little teases until the beast is finally unveiled. :) So far I have the first interactable character, Clarissa. The game will have both sub content and dom content. This way you can approach her dominantly throughout the conversations. But you can also be submissive to her, and eventually become her servant.
And yeah, this game is going to be pretty large. With thousands of renders. And probably multiple chapters, with some of them being optional based on the player's decisions. So for those who enjoy it there will be plenty to be excited of.
Today I present you the player's personal ship from my upcoming Ren'Py title: The Shadow Serpent. I think the model is detailed enough to serve as the main ship, and this way I will avoid using models that were presented many times during my titles.
It also has a nice and spacious interior, something that will come in handy when other characters are introduced.
