Important Update & Progress Report

Hi everyone!

This week's progress report is at the bottom of this post, but I thought it would be best if I started with some other information first. I have made this post public as a one-time thing because the information can also be useful to non-patrons/subscribers.

I first started working on this game in August of 2017. That's roughly two years and four months ago. Since then, I've produced a minimum of one update for Long Live the Princess every single month, without fail. At the same time, I've maintained my day job as a software developer, which means I've been working two jobs simultaneously for the entirety of this project. Free time from my day job has meant extra time that I've been able to dedicate to LLtP, so I've always been busy. I have balanced this pretty well, I feel. Sometimes the pressure has built up a little too much, but I've always been able to get things back to normal before it got out of control.

As many of you have no doubt noticed, this hasn't really worked out that well for me these past two months. I've been burning the candle at both ends, and it's starting to show. I have a hard time concentrating on work (both jobs) and feel tired almost all the time. I keep forgetting things for no reason. It's incredibly difficult to motivate myself to work, and when I do, it's slow going. This cannot continue, or I'm going to crash and burn in a truly spectacular fashion.

As such, I have decided to take your advice seriously and will not do any development on LLtP during the month of December. This will allow me to relax and enjoy Christmas with my family without feeling guilty that I'm not working, which is more than I can say for the past two years.

Here is exactly what consequences this will have:

  • The next update will be out as usual on December 5th. After that, I will take my break.
  • There will be no progress reports during December (since there won't be any progress to report, obviously). However, I will still make the usual posts for $10 and $20 patrons.
  • There will be no new update in January. In other words, the next update after December 5th will be February 5th.
  • You will get progress reports as usual in January.
  • I will provide brand new renders of LLtP characters for all patrons at $5 and above in January. This is a way for me to say thank you for supporting me while I take my break, even if there is no regular game update that month.
  • I will be available on Discord and through messages on Patreon and SubscribeStar during the entire period. Communicating with my supporters is enjoyable, no matter if I'm taking a break or not.
  • If the December 5th update requires a hotfix, I will still take the time to create it, break or no break.

Once I've had this little breather, I expect to be fully energized and ready to dive headfirst into the big story revelations that are right around the corner.

I understand if you feel like dropping your pledge during the month of January since there will be no regular update then. Still, I hope that you will be back for February. It hurts to do this to all of you after the sudden and welcome growth over this past month. However, I can't take the risk of pushing myself anymore at this point. Thank you for your understanding. Game development isn't always easy.

Anyway, onto the progress report.

Progress Report

Primrose's dark secret is now fully implemented. Additionally, she has a new option during her Remove Inhibitions scene as well as expanded content in one of her... ahem... other scenes that I'm sure most of you will enjoy tremendously. With this, I'm done with Primrose for this month.

With Primrose out of the way, I have started working on a new scene for Nell. She deserves a little... attention after taking on her new role in the previous update. This is where her new outfit and hairstyle will pay off. The first posing I've done for this scene is very promising.

And that's about it right now. I don't want to spoil too much of the stuff that's coming your way next week. Just 9 days to go until I release this update, and I've still got a lot of work to do.

Until next time!
