Hello! If you have found your way here, I'm guessing you have some interest in learning more about my project! Sweet.

I am in the early development stages of a (currently untitled) 'Brothel Simulator' game. It will be a 'resource management' style game, but with sexy anime characters doing naughty things. I've been kicking around ideas for this project for a few years now and think I finally have a solid enough game plan that people will find entertaining with lots of replay value and plenty of room for expanding on the game world with new content. My goal is to release the game for PC initially for free - and if things go well, toss it up on steam and then possibly make an Android port.

Why should you support this project?
Short answer? Making games is hard and can be expensive. It's thankless work, often requiring every moment of free time and facilitating the need of many other resources, all to help the project grow to completion. Why do it? Because the end result is awesome! Being able to tell a story or share an experience and get people engaged and talking about a thing that YOU made. It's an awesome feeling and worth the sacrifices!

I've got some experience making games so I know what to expect during development and things to look out for. I was the programmer for an old (oooold...) indie game called Hateful Chris 2: Never Say Buy, and then I went on to release my own game, Core of Innocence. 

Through your subscription, you will get early engine builds (likely monthly, depending on progress) even while the game is still ugly and everything is just placeholder squares! Exciting. Access to various art assets and wallpapers throughout development, and once this game is complete you will also have early access to the latest update releases. But the most important part, you will have access to polls and Subscribestar only posts for you to offer suggestions and feedback and even get your ideas or characters into the game!

Character select and room select working great, and its loading all of the character stats from the save file (I put a fake character creator in there to make sure it all works...) - Next step is to get the skill matching system in place to match the  brothel staff up with potential clients.  Slowly but surely the game engine is coming together! Here's tonight's progress so far - As you can see from the earlier screenshots posted a good bit has been added and is 'working as intended'. I have it set up so I can add characters to the 'list' easily and it will automatically calculate all the math to add more character 'squares'. Still a pile of placeholder graphics for now but the functionality is there!. I'm hoping to expand on the UI elements tomorrow a bit more, and get some of the room stuff added in. Also need to look into common resolutions so if I DO end up porting to android I'll be ready for it ahead of time. I like to plan. :|

Hey everyone!

So - This post I'm going to go over what the game is about, and my goals for getting it to a playable state. This is probably going to be a long post, so buckle in.

As I said up in my intro post, I had the idea for this game like maybe 3-4 years ago. The problems I kept running into were general replayability and keeping things interesting in general. the original form of the game engine (see the prototype screenshots below) - I had a completely random generator to come up with the girls, assign initial stats at random, etc etc. The idea then would be to match their specific set of skills to each client that would come into the shop, the better you match them up, the more money you could make per client. 

It was an interesting base but it was kind of all over the place with all the different stats and things to keep track of, and was hard to visually represent everything with easily recognizable iconography. I also had room customization, which was fun to mess with but really didn't serve much of a point at the time. The additions were supposed to unlock various positions and stat boots when your workers were working but it ended up just being way more complex and tougher to track what was going on. Also, I was planning on doing spritework for everything which is insanely tedious and when you're trying to watch something sexy.... a 48 pixel high character just isn't gonna do it for most people. Basically the game just started falling apart so I put the project on hold.

I ended up playing a vew VN's recently, and was immediately hooked. I thought they were pretty stupid at first but after playing some decent ones (in my opinion) I found myself really getting into each story line and how your different actions could effect things. But it also felt like something was missing - like, some additional game play element to go along with all the story, and that's when it hit me. If I dumped the randomly generated characters from my game, and had actual created characters with back stories and their own histories, they might actually be more meaningful to the player and keep them interested and invested in moving things forward. It would also be a great way to add new content as time went on, and to even work with people to get some of their OC 'waifu' in game, so to speak.

I simplified the base mechanics down, to more or less an overall 'wellness' bar, and then all the various skills one of your workers might have, with the option to utilize more skills as you learn more about each character. It is much easier to indicate the matching requirements between client and worker now, without the player having to juggle so many numeric stats. instead each skill will just have its own ranking system, E,C,B,A,S,S+ sort of scheme, so you will just be able to tell instantly, 'Hey, this worker is great at X and Y, and will match great with this particular client.' things started coming together on paper gameplay-wise, but now I just needed some art assets. Sexy ones. 

I ended up getting Koikatsu Party back in December during the steam sale, thought it might be something fun to fuck around with for a while. And well, I got good at it. I've gotten more followers of my work with my Koikatsu stuff in three months than I did the entire 10+ years that I was working on Core of Innocence. Finally one of my friends said - "Fucking do something with that skill man." So, here I am. I have a game plan, I have a tool to make some quality art assets and animations, I have the drive.
